Alberto Tarín, born in 1961 in Valencia (Spain), has contributed to the Spanish pop music in several ways, playing and arranging for some of the most famous groups of the Spanish musical scene (Mecano 1989, Jah Macetas 1990, 1996, Seguridad Social (1991-1997), Rafa Villalba Chiquetere 1994, Palabra de guitarra 1995 (compilation of various artists),among others. As artist published his first album Coraje (1997), where he approached to several styles and different roots, mainly from latin and brazilian influences.
Internationally the recognition has arrived when one of its songs has been included in the CD "Guitar music for small rooms vol.2" (Warner Canada) 2001 among other great guitarists like Wes Montgomery, George Benson, Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Jeff Beck, Ry Cooder, Larry Carlton, standing 8 weeks in the Canadian charts. The song is called "Bolero of Moon" (of its first album in solitary "Coraje"), and shows Alberto´s fine guitar style.
Also he has extensive experience in composing, arranging and recording music for documentaries, TV series and film music designing. He performed in diverse festivals like the Festival of Jazz of Montreaux, New Music Seminary New York, Zenith of Paris, Marquee of London, Roxy in L.A.
The relation with reggae music begins in the seventies with the impact of Bob Marley in Europe, also assembling the pioneering band of reggae in Spain (Jah Macetas) in 1989, until 1996 co-producing some tracks along with Coxsone S.Dodd and Sergio Monleón in the legendary Coxsone´s Studio One of NY. These collaborations are shown in two albums with Jah Macetas:"Toda vida"(1991) and "Jah Macetas in Studio One" (1996), also playing live with the Jamaican guitarist Stephen Wright, and in the studio, doing beautiful music.
The relation of Alberto with the music of the jazz also begun in years 70 as a listener, until the idea arose from playing jazz standards in a reggae beat, songs of great composers like Gershwin, Mancini, Cole Porter.... How to preserve that rich jazz harmonical atmosphere, along with the rhythm concept of reggae, it was the task that it had accepted; a new approach to fusion jazz and reggae "Jazzin Reggae".
The next step, the product Living Reggae, that consists of a live DVD concert, altogether with the Jazzin Reggae Band, and with artists like Dave Barker, Winston Francis, Steven Wright, A.J. Franklin, and Earl Appleton, a 90´DVD docummentary, under the direction of Alvaro Olavarría, and Sergio Monleón (Jah Macetas), about its experiences in Spain, London and Ethiopia, country-myth for the culture rasta, plus an audio CD with extracts of the referred concert plus bonus tracks.
He has recorded together with top singers and Jamaican artists like Vin Gordon, BB Seaton, Derrick Morgan, and Leonard Dillon. He has recently accompanied the legendary Jamaican group "The Skatalites", in concerts in Spain, Holland and France. Also he accompanied to Rita Marley. Also he has shared scene with the legendary guitarist Carlos Santana.
From 2004 to 2018 he was part of the group New York Ska Ensemble Jazz, where he collaborated with talents as Freddie Rocksteady Reiter, Nana Yao Dinizulu, Mark Paquin, Earl Appleton, Chris Weigers, Wayne Batchelor, Cary Brown, Malcolm Gold, Lee Archibald, Larry McDonald, Big Dan from Dub is a Weapon, recording 3 records and having made performances in more than twenty European countries.

Alberto Tarín
Alberto Tarín (Valencia,1961), es un guitarrista de jazz, reggae, y música afroamericana y latina. Autodidacta, aprendió a tocar la guitarra a la edad de 16 años. Creció escuchando música española y cubana, pero su aprendizaje coincidió con la eclosión del Rock sinfónico (Pink Floyd), o el rock-blues duro (Led Zeppelin), que influiría en su carrera, aunque el jazz como género en el sentido amplio estuvo siempre como influencia general predominante en su estilo.
A finales de los años 80 fue como miembro del grupo pop “Bongos Atómicos”. Durante esa década gran parte de su actividad se centró en la composición y producción de música de informativos para Canal 9 Televisión Valenciana, cabe resaltar su colaboración con el grupo de pop español Mecano en el álbum Descanso Dominical (1989)
Su relación con la música reggae comienza con su trabajo en la banda Jah Macetas (Toda una Vida) (1990), y “Jah Macetas en Studio One” (1996).
En Enero de 1991 comienza su andadura con el grupo de rock español Seguridad Social hasta 1997. Con éste grupo grabaría “Que no se extinga la llama”(1991), Furia Latina(1994), “Compromiso de amor”(1996), participando también en el CD “En la Boca del volcán” (1998), y “Otros mares” (2012).
Deja el grupo en 1997 y como artista en solitario ese mismo año publicó Coraje su primer trabajo en solitario con Warner Music,
En 2001 publica “Jazzin Reggae“, un álbum donde hace versiones de standards clásicos de jazz a ritmo de reggae. Tras él, publica versiones dub de ese mismo trabajo en 2 cd´s :Jazzin Reggae Showcase Vol.1 y Jazzin Reggae Showcase Vol.2
En 2006 publicó Living Reggae, un DVD en directo junto a la Jazzin Reggae Band, con artistas como Dave BarKer, Winston Francis, Steven Wright, A.J. Franklin y Earl Appleton, y un DVD documental, junto a Sergio Monleón (Jah Macetas) de 90 minutos de duración.
Ha acompañado a artistas como “The Skatalites“, Rita Marley y Carlos Santana.
Desde 2004 hasta 2014 forma parte del grupo New York Ska Jazz Ensemble, con los que ha grabado 3 álbums : Stepforward (2006), Double Edge (2008) y Free as a bird (2014), habiendo girado por todo el mundo mas de 30 paises por los cinco continentes. Una gran y valiosa experiencia para afrontar el siguiente paso en su carrera.
Actualmente está ocupado preparado el lanzamiento de su próximo trabajo.
